This privacy notice explains the information MoorMate may collect through its marketplace website and how to contact us about your information.
About MoorMate
MoorMate Limited operates a booking marketplace connecting boaters with independent mooring operators. MoorMate does not own or operate listed moorings unless explicitly stated.
Information you provide
Our forms may ask for contact, sailing, vessel and business details so we can respond to enquiries, create listings and provide relevant availability information.
How information is used
Information is used to operate the marketplace, communicate with users and operators, support bookings and improve MoorMate. Full processing and retention terms will be provided as services expand.
Cookies and similar technologies
Essential cookies and local storage are used to make the site work and to remember your cookie choice. These do not require consent. Non-essential cookies, including advertising cookies, are only set after you give clear consent.
If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, a cookie banner asks for your choice before any non-essential tracking loads. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using “Cookie settings” in the website footer; a change applies immediately.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram) advertising tracking
With your marketing consent, MoorMate loads the Meta Pixel, a tracking technology provided by Meta Platforms. It sets cookies and sends information to Meta about your visit — including the pages you view on moormate.app, actions such as submitting a mooring listing or mooring request form, your IP address, browser and device information, and the referring page.
This is used to measure the performance of MoorMate advertising on Facebook and Instagram, to understand which adverts lead to enquiries, and to show relevant adverts to people who have visited the site. Meta acts as an independent controller for its own purposes as described in Meta's own privacy policy, and MoorMate and Meta act as joint controllers for the collection and transmission of this information.
The legal basis is your consent (UK GDPR and EU GDPR Article 6(1)(a), and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations for the cookies themselves). If you reject non-essential cookies, the Meta Pixel is not loaded and no advertising events are sent. Information may be transferred outside the UK and EEA, including to the United States, under the safeguards Meta relies on, such as standard contractual clauses and adequacy decisions.
We do not upload customer lists or contact details to Meta for advertising matching.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, object to processing, or withdraw consent. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or your local data protection authority.
